Ask the Editors

An Introduction

Posted January 14, 2008

Join us every Monday for a discussion on the Bruin’s production process and story development.

Top editors of the Bruin have been thinking of ways to increase interaction with our readers and further engage them in our production process. The “Ask the Editors” blog is an invitation to our readers to join us in conversation about the procedure and process of an article’s production.

We encourage readers to share their observations, concerns and accolades with us throughout the week’s production. By the week’s end, articles receiving the most feedback in the form of e-mails to the editor will be highlighted on this blog the following Monday along with an editor’s comment and an overall “behind-the-scenes” look at the eventual production of the article.

An example of something that readers may submit for use on this blog can be: “In last week’s paper, why did the editors choose to run photos of Obama supporters and Bruin Republicans as opposed to other politically active student organizations? How do editors go about selecting sources?”

Our hope is for readers to use this as a tool for a better understanding of the Bruin’s content. We look forward to engaging our readers in this online forum.
